If we first define what is subculture and according to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary it is:
«An ethnic, regional, economic, or social group exhibiting characteristic patterns of behavior is sufficient to distinguish it from others within an embracing culture or society.»
There is a wide variety of subculture styles for fashion in Japan and many of these appear in magazines focused on these audiences. The main focus for its creation is manga and anime, which are very successful, especially among young people. We are only going to talk about 2 well-known subcultures even internationally.
The first is Cosplay

The phenomenon of cosplay emerged in the 1970s at the Comic Market in Japan. In fact, the word cosplay comes from the English “costume play”. Participants, also called cosplayers, wear costumes, accessories and costumes that represent a specific character or an idea. Favorite sources for finding characters include comics, movies, books, anime, manga, and video games. During a cosplay presentation, participants adopt the personality of the character they play and have many competitions and events in which a large number of cosplayers make an appearance.
The second is Kogal

The most common theory about the name «kogal» or «kogyaru» is that it comes from the Japanese word to designate the institute (kōkō) .This subculture is inspired by the dress of schoolgirls and is made up of young people who care mainly for beauty, taking care of the clothes, hair, makeup, nails, etc. Over time they have changed. An example is that in the 90s. The series like Beverly Hills meant a lot to them, with this they began new techniques to enlarge the eyes. In the same way they tend to be divided into two types: the ive (which are dedicated to organizing events, usually have many members and appear frequently in the media such as television and / or magazines) and the Nago, which are groups with fewer members and with a quieter activity, such as chatting, shopping, etc
